Thesis Project

"The integration of 3D city models and WebGIS in the building-level spatial analysis of urban WEF resources and food environment"

Biography

Lingfei Ye (she/her) is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Waterloo. She holds an MSc in Geography with research experience applying GIS methods, 3D LiDAR measurements, 3D models, and WebGIS techniques to estimate and visualize building and road material stocks in small island states, examining socioeconomic metabolism and sustainability in vulnerable island contexts. Her current research focuses on the integration of 3D city models and WebGIS for building-level spatial analysis of urban population distributions, water-energy-food (WEF) resources, and the food environment, supporting more comprehensive assessment and visualization of urban resource systems.

Research Areas

Her research areas include GIS and remote sensing, spatial data analysis, and Web GIS applications, with a focus on integrating GIS techniques, 3D city models, LiDAR data, and interactive WebGIS platforms to support building-level resource analysis for sustainable planning and data-driven decision making.
